Dear Friends of the Women's Film Festival, The WFF, an annual fundraising event for the Women's Crisis Center of Windham County is currently looking to fill several volunteer jobs on the festival organizing committee, including two co-chair positions. Please look at the attached booklet of volunteer job descriptions and see if there is one that would fit your skills and level of desired involvement. And if there isn't there is still almost surely a way you can help. [Please note: this booklet is in pdf format, so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it. If you do not have a copy of Acrobat, you can download it for free from the Adobe Website]. We hope you will help us build on the success of last year's festival and make this year's film festival the best ever. With the country's awakening to the glories of documentary film, it is exciting to feel in the forefront of a movement -- the world is finally catching up to what we in Brattleboro have known for a long time! Last year every entry for an Academy Award for best short documentary was directed by a woman. The field of cinema is becoming rich with women's creative work and women's voices. We hope you will choose to be a part of the exciting challenge of bringing the 2005 Women's Film Festival to Brattleboro, one of the premiere events of the year. And by so doing you will be joining with a committed group of women to bring women's issues to the film-viewing public, and to help raise operating funds for the Women's Crisis Center, an (unfortunately) still very much needed organization formed over 25 years ago to combat violence against women and children. You may respond by simply marking your area of interest and mailing the folder back, or reaching us at either of the email or phone numbers listed below. Yours truly, Arlene Distler 254-9595 arldis@sover.net
