For me, this event is a safe place where I can share my work knowing that the creative process I've worked through will be honored and accepted. To me, the show is more a garden of resplendent color than an extended display of specimen plants - its fundamental beauty lies in the collective impact of women expressing themselves, rejoicing in one another's unique contribution to the effect of the whole.
Indeed, the entire month-long event is all about empowerment and celebrations: from the women artists who exhibit and the women filmmakers who ply their craft on the big screen to the women whose lives intersect in our community through the Crisis Center. The organizers of the event have succeeded in creating an atmosphere of acceptance and encouragement where women like me can feel comfortable about taking the risk of "showing" their work.
